FOUNDATIONS 4 CLASS

Welcome to Foundations 4 Class - Emerging Leaders (AGES: 5 to 12 YEARS OLD) | Before & After School Care

 

Welcome to The Learning Circle's Foundations 4 program, where our goal is to support the growth and development of emerging leaders aged 5 to 12. This class is designed to foster critical thinking, creativity, and independence while building upon the foundation established in previous classes. Our focus is on providing a balanced curriculum that nurtures students' physical, emotional, and cognitive development, as well as their language, communication, and social-emotional skills. With a focus on hands-on learning experiences, students are encouraged to become confident and self-directed learners who are prepared for their future academic and personal growth.

 

School Hours:  Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm

*Arrival Time:  8:00 am (for morning transportation)

Meals: Afternoon snacks included 

Additional Services: On elementary closure days such as Pro D days, Spring Break, and Summer, full-day care is available upon sign-up; additional fees will apply.

 

*To ensure your child arrives safely & on time to school.  Please have your child in our attendance by 8:00 am.  

Our Foundations 4 - Emerging Leaders Curriculum:

  • Language Development and Literacy:

    • Enhance students' reading, writing, and communication abilities through engaging activities. Previous language and literacy skills will be built upon to further improve students' abilities.

  • Music, Movement, and Expression:

    • Nurtures students' love for music, movement, and creative expression through songs, dances, and arts and crafts.

  • Science, Technology, and Mathematics:

    • Hands-on activities, experiments, and projects in science, technology, and mathematics allow students to explore and discover. 

  • Visual and Performing Arts:

    • Creativity and imagination are developed through visual and performing arts such as drawing, painting, and drama.

  • Life Skills and Sensory Awareness:

    • Practical life skills and sensory awareness are taught through hands-on activities and exercises.

  • Health and Well-being:

    • Physical education, mindfulness, and healthy eating habits are emphasized to promote a healthy lifestyle.

  • Character Education:

    • Universal values and ethics are instilled through character education lessons, discussions, and group activities.

  • Arts and Culture:

    • Cultural knowledge and appreciation are expanded through visual and performing arts experiences and cultural field trips.

  • Problem-solving and Critical Thinking:

    • Students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills are encouraged through interactive activities, games, and discussions.

  • Leadership and Communication Skills:

    • Leadership and communication skills are fostered through group projects, public speaking opportunities, and interactive discussions.

  • Social and Emotional Development:

    • Social and emotional growth is promoted through interactive activities, group discussions, and character education programs.

  • Foundations of Mindful Movement:

    • Children will learn techniques to manage stress, improve focus, and build a positive self-image through yoga, movement, and positive affirmations.  A journey of self-discovery and wellness that will last a lifetime.

 

Inside Your Foundations 4 - Emerging Leader’s Day:

  • Routine:

    • Building on the established routines of the previous three programs, a structured and consistent daily schedule provides stability and promotes learning and growth.

  • Academic Excellence:

    • Along with homework support, a focus on developing strong academic skills in language, literacy, mathematics, science, and technology through hands-on, inquiry-based activities and project-based learning.

  • Group Experiences:

    • Promoting teamwork and leadership skills through group projects and activities, building on the social and emotional connections developed in previous programs.

  • Language Development:

    • Building on bilingual education in French and Spanish, further expanding language skills and exposure to additional languages.

  • Mindful Movement:

    • Continuing the practice of Foundations of Mindful Movement to promote self-awareness, self-confidence, and inner peace.

  • Life Skills and Sensory Awareness:

    • Developing important life skills and sensory awareness through hands-on experiences and activities.

  • Creative Arts and Sensory Exploration:

    • Nurturing creativity and self-expression through visual and performing arts activities.

  • Physical Activity and Outdoor Time:

    • Encouraging physical activity and exploration of the environment through outdoor play and physical education classes.

  • Transitions Support:

    • Support and assistance provided to students during their transition from one activity to another, including the transition to & from elementary school. 

 

Goals for Our Foundation 4 - Emerging Leaders (Ages 5-12):

  • Develop leadership skills and self-confidence through decision-making, teamwork and initiative.

  • Strengthen language and communication skills through reading, writing, public speaking and bilingual education.

  • Foster social and emotional development through group activities, cooperative problem solving, and empathy.

  • Support physical growth and wellness through sports, fitness and outdoor activities.

  • Enhance cognitive development through inquiry-based learning, hands-on projects and critical thinking.

  • Improve fine motor skills through hands-on activities such as art and technology projects.

  • Foster creativity and self-expression through arts programs, music and theater.

  • Improve attention span and concentration through project-based learning and research.

  • Encourage healthy habits and nutrition through a health and wellness program.

  • Develop life skills and prepare for future success through career exploration and financial literacy.

  • Introduce technology and digital skills through project-based learning and coding.

  • Adapt to meet individual needs and interests while maintaining a structured learning environment.

  • Build relationships and network with peers, mentors, and industry leaders.

  • Expand industry knowledge and understanding of trends.

  • Enhance personal and professional development through education and skill-building opportunities.

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

  • Provide mentorship and coaching for career growth.

  • Contribute to the growth and success of the organization through teamwork and collaboration.

It's important to remember that every child develops at their own pace, so these milestones should not be considered absolute requirements but rather a guide to help determine a student's readiness for graduation or transition to middle school.
